Pervez Musharraf’s Lawyer says his Client Will not Appear before Court Today
Tuesday, March 11th, 2014 10:21:22 by Hunain NaseerAhmed Raza Kasuri, counsel for the former President Pervez Musharraf, has stated that his client will not be appearing before the court today, March 11, Tuesday.
The former President and General (retd) of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf was expected to attend court today for his treason case hearing but his lawyer says that his client will not be appearing without a fool-proof security plan.
It is reported that the interior ministry has been in communication with intelligence and security forces regarding threats to the former President’s life. In a letter from the ministry, it was stated that Pervez Musharraf is under threat from terrorist groups and might be attacked in transit to the court.
While a special court was set up by the government to try Musharraf on charges of treason, his hearings have been continuously postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. Initially explosives were found on the way he was scheduled to take for his hearings and then more material was discovered from outside his Chak Shehzad farm house.
Later Musharraf suffered from a heart condition and was rushed to the hospital, which also led to further delaying of his hearing. Now, after the attack on F8 district court, the requirement for increased security is a major concern.
