New Islamabad Security Plan to Be Implemented from April 15
Monday, March 17th, 2014 10:44:32 by Hunain NaseerThe Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan revealed yesterday that a new security plan and operational strategy for the capital of Pakistan will be implemented from April 15.
While addressing a high-level meeting on Sunday, the minister shared that the paramilitary force was going to be tasked with security arrangements and joint patrolling was to be introduced, involving police forces and Rangers.
The Interior Ministry and police forces received a lot of criticism for the terrorist attack on the district court of Islamabad, located in sector F-8. The attack, which took place earlier this month, saw armed assailants walk into the district court and open fire, killing several people, including lawyers and a judge.
According to Chaudhry Nisar, Islamabad police will also undergo additional training with help from retired military officials. He said that the standard of Islamabad police will be raised to that of the Elite Force.
The Minister also asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to step up their performance and take serious measures against any officials known to be involved in criminal activities. The same directive was given to the Islamabad police as well, tasking officials to arrest members of the police force with associations to criminals.
