TTP’s List of 300 Women and Children Prisoners Given to Interior Ministry
Monday, March 17th, 2014 6:02:29 by Hunain NaseerAccording to Professor Ibrahim, a member of the Taliban negotiating committee in the peace talks between the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Pakistan’s government, a list of 300 women and children prisoners has been forward to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
The TTP has asked for the release of these 300 non-combatants before they can engage in further negotiations.
While speaking to leaders of the Jammat-e-Islami, Professor Ibrahim stated that the TTP proposes that security forces are withdrawn from South Waziristan Agency. He also went on to clarify that this is not a demand from the TTP and if a complete withdrawal is not agreed to, it should be affected in the tehsils of Laddah and Makeen at least.
The professor also shared that the release of former Governor Salman Taseer’s son and the son of Yousaf Raza Gillani will be discussed with the Taliban.
Rana Sanaullah, the Punjab Law Minister, has asked the TTP to prove that the claimed people are being held and if they are, he assured that they will be released when evidence is provided.
However, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif strongly denied these allegations and invited a government investigation if any proof was received.
