Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 9:13:28 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Islamabad that the advisor to the Prime Minister in terms of foreign affairs, Sartaj Aziz, has come out in the open and claimed that Pakistan is not willing to help Syria. In fact, he claimed that Pakistan should not even intervene in the situation.
Sartaj Aziz was briefing the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee and while talking to them he said that Pakistan needs to keep a good balance between the countries, Saudi Arabia and Iran. He claimed that keeping strong relationships with both these countries is important and that is why intervening in the Syria matter is not a good idea.
He also spoke about how Saudi Arabia recently gave Pakistan a gift of $1.5 billion with absolutely no strings attached. However, he claimed that the foreign policy of the country cannot change as they need to stick to their words on international ground.
While talking about the ties with Saudi Arabia, Sartaj Aziz stated that 3448 passports were recently issued on an emergency basis only to facilitate the Pakistanis who are currently living in Saudi Arabia; so that they can return back to their home country.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are also negotiating regarding the illegal Pakistani people who are currently residing in the country.
