Government and Taliban Committees to Meet Today
Saturday, March 22nd, 2014 8:51:39 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Islamabad that the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Chaudhry Nisar, came out and told the press that the government and Taliban committees are going to meet up today in order to further discuss the peace talks.
Pakistan and Taliban were supposed to be involved in peace talks right at the start of March. However, a Taliban leader killed the 23 FC troops which the held captive since 2010. This angered the Pakistani government and they decided to launch an operation in the North Waziristan. Several militant hideouts were destroyed in the process.
After attacking different hideouts, the Taliban finally decided to come to common terms. Now both the parties are going to meet up on Saturday to take the peace talks to the next step. There were several pre-meetings before this one took place.
The meeting which will take place on Saturday is going to help both the parties decide the venue for formal talks to take place.
The government committee stated that the Bannu airport should be the venue for this meeting. However, the Taliban committee suggested that this meeting should take place in an area which is in North Waziristan. A venue is yet to be decided.
