Najam Sethi Believes Overconfidence is the Reason Why Pakistan Lost
Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 8:39:39 by Ahmad MehdiPakistan faced India in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup. It was a coincidence that the Pakistani team was drawn against their arch-rivals, India, in the first game of the competition.
Before playing the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan faced India in the Asia Cup game. The match between the two was quite well-anticipated and Pakistan was able to beat India as Shahid Afridi struck two sixes to wrap the game off.
This gave Pakistan the confidence to face India once again. They were to face the World Champions of cricket in a T20 format and that too in Bangladesh, a similar pitch which they played on before.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman, Najam Sethi, is of the opinion that Pakistan could have won the game if they were not over confident or too casual about it. He believes that the earlier win against India in the Asia Cup final gave Pakistan the confidence that they might be able to pull off a double against the Indians; however, their mentality did not turn in their favour.
Pakistan faced Australia in their second game and it was a must win match for them. Greens were victorious as they struck a mighty score of 191 in 20 overs, which Australia could not chase.
