Thieves break into private bank in Karachi and get away
Monday, April 7th, 2014 2:26:51 by Hunain NaseerAccording to the latest reports, a private bank in Karachi was broken into by thieves, who were able to get away with hundreds of thousands worth of valuables.
The bank, located in the Garden Area, was looted in the night between Saturday and Sunday, when it was closed for the weekend. The thieves reportedly had enough time to cut open all locks and empty the lockers before getting away.
It is believed that the culprits used a gas cutter to break into the bank.
Most of the looted valuables belonged to retired citizens who had put away their savings into the bank considering it safe. Some of the people had their entire life savings in those lockers, and infuriated with the situation, they held a protest outside the bank.
The protestors demanded that authorizes retrieve their valuables and bring the culprits to justice.
After rampant car and mobile snatching, it remains to be seen whether bank robbing in Karachi will also become a norm. The alarming law and order situation in the largest city of the country needs to be taken seriously by authorities for the sake of citizens and the security of their lives and property.
