Prof. Ibrahim Believes Govt-Army Have Reached a Compromise Over Musharraf
Monday, April 21st, 2014 12:47:22 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Peshawar that the Jamaat E Islami leader, Prof. Ibrahim, came out in the open and stated that he sees the government and the Pakistani army reach a compromise regarding General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf and they are now both allowing him a safe passage.
He spoke against this compromise, stating that the army should not see Musharraf as one of their own; in fact, they should see him as a traitor of the nation since he betrayed Pakistan by imposing emergency in November of 2007.
He also stated that throughout the time the army and the government are not on the same page, the Government-Taliban peace talks cannot progress as well.
The Pakistani government is currently involved in peace talks with the outlawed organization, Tehreek E Taliban. The two parties are going to meet and talk about how they should come to common ground.
Professor Ibrahim spoke about how Tehreek E Taliban recently stated that they will not attack on public gatherings. He welcomed the statement and also urged them to stop attacking the army and other security forces of the country.
Pakistan is still involved in peace talks with Tehreek E Taliban.
