Police Officer Shafiq Tanoli Died in Suicide Bomb Attack in Karachi

DSP Nasir Lodhi told the reporters that the “blast killed police official Shafiq Tanoli and three others.” Mr. Lodhi said that there were about five people in the tailor shop when the explosion took place.
Police has recovered the head of the suspected suicide bomber from the scene of the bomb explosion. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Rescue teams also moved the bodies of the victims of the explosion to the hospital.
According to sources, police officer Tanoli had received numerous threats from terrorists and gangsters due to his involvement in the operation against illegal activities in Karachi. During the past six months, Tanoli was part of police operations against terrorism that killed about 30 suspected terrorists.
No terrorist organization has so far claimed the responsibility of the blast that killed the police officer Shafiq Tanoli and three others.
Tanoli was involved in the investigation of the high profile Wali Khan Babar murder case. A number of attempts to kill him in the past did not succeed.
The Sindh High Court (SHC) had ordered an inquiry against Sub-Inspector Shafiq Tanoli last week on the charges of illegal detention of citizens.
The target killing of Shafiq Tanoli is the second incident of targeting police officers in Karachi. Earlier police officer Aslam Chaudhry was killed in a roadside bomb blast.
