Pakistani Cueists in Dubai to take part in Asian Snooker
Saturday, April 26th, 2014 11:02:05 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Karachi that a three-member snooker squad left for Dubai in order to represent Pakistan in the 28th Asian Snooker Championship. This tournament is going to start on April 26th and last till May 3rd.
The trio included the likes of Muhammad Asif Toba, who is also the national champion; Asjad Iqbal and Hamza Akbar.
Even though Muhammad Asif Toba is currently the national champion, this is his first time in the continental championship. On the other hand, Asjad Iqbal and Hamza Akbar have both participated in this competition before.
The Asian Confederations of Billiards Sports announced that whoever takes the prize in the 28th Asian Snooker Championship, he will be offered a place on the Pro Tour for the next two seasons.
The former Pakistani cueist, who has now migrated to Afghanistan, Saleh Muhammad, is currently the champion. He was able to win the prize in Karachi, where the competition took place last year. This time he is going to be present in order to defend his crown; only this time he is going to represent Afghanistan.
Also involved in this competition will be China’s Zho Xintong, who was the runner up during the IBSF World Championship 2013.
