Pakistan Air Force is Ready for All Challenges – Air Chief
Monday, April 28th, 2014 8:45:48 by Jamshed SindhuPakistan Air Force (PAF) is ready for accept any challenge including operation against the Taliban hideouts, the Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Chief of the Air Staff PAF has said while talking to media on the induction of five F-16 jets from Jordan on Sunday April 27, 2014. Ambassador of Jordan was also present at the ceremony.
Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt was the chief guest at the impressive ceremony to include the newly received 5 F-16 jets from Jordan into the Pakistan Air Force. Pakistan has received the first batch of 5 F-16 fighter jets.
Air Chief said that air force is ready to cope with any challenges including the targeted operation against the Taliban fighters in Pakistan. He said that PAF would perform its duties as envisaged by the Government of Pakistan.
The air chief said that these aircraft would enhance the PAF capability to counter any internal and external threats.
An official said that the second hand fighter jets were purchased to avoid burden on national exchequer.
“The aircraft have been purchased from the Royal Jordanian Air Force after a series of negotiations held between the concerned ministries and the concerted efforts of Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt,” said the official.
Pakistan will get a total of 13 F-16 fighter jets from Jordan after overhaul. These are F-16 Models A and B. Pakistan Air Force will induct another eight Jordanian fighter jets to increase the F-16 total to 76. These fighter jets will serve PAF for another 20 years with almost 3,000 hours on average available to them for flying.
Nawaf Khalifa Saraieh, Ambassador of Jordan to Pakistan, and other high ranking officers from the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army were also attended the ceremony to induct the F-16 jet fighters.
