Plans Set for Pak-India Cricket Series
Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 1:06:00 by Ahmad MehdiThe long-awaited friendly cricket series between Pakistan and India might just be on its way as the two boards are quite close to the final decision about the dates. However, it is being said that both the countries are going to play at a neutral venue such as UAE, since Pakistan is not willing to play in India and it cannot host a cricketing event on its own.
Ranjib Biswal, who is the chairman of the Indian Premier League, recently came out in the open and spoke about how the series are a possibility but nothing has been confirmed so far. He said, “We have had a discussion in the working committee about a proposal from the Pakistan board to host some matches in the UAE, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.”
The Indian cricketers are making a return to Dubai for the IPL 2014. This means that there can be a potential series between Pakistan and their arch-rivals, India. This is for the first time in 8 years that the Indian cricketers are willing to play on these grounds.
The interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sunil Gawaskar said,
“I’m certain the success of IPL will make the BCCI look at it in a different way than in the past. I think there is a move afoot to have a series against Pakistan, but I don’t have any details.”
