Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 4:12:00 by News Pakistan AdminA High Court judge in England had upheld the decision of England and Wales Cricket Board appeal panel to impose life ban on a former Essex and Pakistani cricketer Danish Kaneria for inducing another team player to deliberately concede.
Danish Kaneria was charged by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for encouraging an Essex player to concede runs against another county team Durham in the year 2009 and brought the the game of cricket into disrepute.
The ECB disciplinary panel investigated the matter and found the allegations proved. Kaneria was allowed to file appeal against the decision. However, in 2013 an ECB appeal panel dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision of imposing life long ban on Kaneria for playing cricket.
Danish Kaneria took the ECB appeal panel verdict to the High Court. He claimed that claiming that the ECB appeal panel had made an error to uphold the life ban and wrongly ordered him to pay ECB legal costs of GBP200,000.
English High Court Judge heard his claims on Tuesday May 6, 2014 and dismissed the claims and upheld ECP disciplinary panel decision.
High Court Judge, Justice Hamblen, said in his decsision that there were no grounds suggesting that an error of law was made while deciding the life ban on Kaneria. Kaneria was not present at the hearing.
