Medical Report Suggests Musharraf’s Treatment Abroad
Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 6:20:42 by News Pakistan AdminDoctors have recommended medical treatment of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf abroad for a spinal fracture which cannot be treated in Pakistan. The medical report came out just after the federal government had opposed removing the name of Musharraf from the Exit Control List (ECL) during a hearing in the Sindh High Court.
Medical report indicates that Pervez Musharraf is suffering from spinal fracture and Pakistan lacks any expertise or technical facilities to treat the condition.
Pervez Musharraf was examined by a medical team consisting of five doctors. After examining the spine and left leg, the medical team recommended that former president should go to any other country which have the expertise and facilities to tread the spinal fracture.
Musharraf first experienced the pain two years ago in Dubai and it has intensified over the period.
Previously the medical team diagnosed him with a chronic heart problem, however, Pakistan has the facilities and expertise thus he could not be allowed to go abroad for treatment.
The report does not suggest any measures already taken by Musharraf’s doctors to relieve the pain and heal the spinal fracture using medications and restricting movement.
Sindh High Court is hearing the petition filed by Pervez Musharraf to remove his name from the ECL so that he can go abroad for medical treatment and see his mother in Dubai.
Federal government is opposing the removal stating there is no reason for Musharraf to travel abroad. However, the new medical report does provide a reason for traveling abroad for medical treatment.
The Sindh High Court will resume hearing of the case on Wednesday.
