Pakistan National Assembly Approves Resolution to Unblock Youtube
Tuesday, May 6th, 2014 3:10:38 by Khalil KhanPakistan National Assembly members voted in favor of a resolution tabled by Shazia Marri to unblock the youtube in Pakistan on Tuesday May 6, 2014. The resolution demands the government to lift the ban on the video sharing wesbiste as soon as possible.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Shazia Marri who belongs to Pakistan People Party asked the government to stop using double standards on the issue as people are watching the videos on youtube in Pakistan using proxy servers despite the ban imposed in 2012.
Shazia Marri’s resolution was adopted unanimously in the National Assembly demanding the government to unblock youtube as soon as possible.
Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, while responding to the resolution assured the National Assembly that the government would unblock ban on YouTube soon. The Minister, however, added that matter needs to be discussed collectively and all parties should nominate their members for further discussion on this important matter.
Pakistan governmnet blocked the youtube in the country in September 2012 after the video sharing website refused to remove blasphemous material from the site. People have been watching youtube videos online using proxy servers in Pakistan.

Youtube must be unblocked in Pakistan. Opening youtube with proxy is not good solution.
