Waqar Younis appointed head coach

Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed on Tuesday May 6, 2014 the pace bowler and former captain a Waqar Younis  as the new head coach of the Pakistan Cricket team.

Waqar Younis has been awarded a  two-year contract as head coach. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi has earlier hinted on his appointment in an interview in a newspaper.

Waqar Younis had coached Pakistan in 2010 and 2011 and then resigned from the post siting personal reasons.
His attempt to become the top selector for the Pakistan Cricket Team failed earlier this year when his application was turned down by the selection committee.

Waqar said, “As I am in Lahore I just met the PCB chairman to express my availability as head coach for the Pakistan team, for which I have already submitted an application.” .

“And I would like to express that I have no differences with Moin Khan or any player,” Waqar further added.

In the mean time, Islamabad High Court has restored Mohammad Ilyas as the Chief Selector of the Pakistan Cricket Team. His contract was cancelled and Moin Khan was appointed as the Chief Selector by the Cricket Board.

Islamabad High Court has given Cricket Board two weeks to respond.
