FBI Agent Being Trialed in Pakistan after Being Arrested
Thursday, May 8th, 2014 11:08:43 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Islamabad that the airport security managed to catch an FBI agent who was trying to board a domestic flight between Islamabad and Karachi while carrying ammunition and knives.
The man was arrested on Monday after he was caught carrying fifteen 9mm bullets, three knives and a wrench. According to the police Superintendent, Malir Rao Anwar, all of the items which were being carried by him along with his laptop and cell phone have been taken to a forensic lab for further analysis.
A US Law Enforcement Official claimed that the agent who was caught was actually on an assignment where he was to train local police officers. Sources also claim that currently diplomats are working with the Pakistani authorities in order to gain the release of the agent.
He has already appeared in the court on Tuesday and he is going to appear yet again on Saturday, where he is going to be pressed with anti-terrorist charges since Pakistan does not allow anyone to carry weapons on the plane. However, there are certain US agents who are specifically allowed to carry ammunition in Pakistan.
Rao Anwar came out in the open and stated that he expects the case to go to trial because it’s a matter of upholding Pakistan’s dignity and honour. He claimed that the agent was acting illegally and the arrest was perfectly legal.
