It was revealed on Wednesday that he tested positive for a banned substance and he is now the first ever player to receive a ban on doping in the country’s domestic cricket.
Kashif Siddiq Khan is an all-rounder who has captained the State Bank team in different domestic cup competitions. He is the son of a respected first-class umpire and now he has received a ban because he tested positive in a dope test.
The 32-year-old violated the anti-doping code, as revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board. However, no one has yet revealed about the substance which he has tested positive for.
A statement released by Pakistan Cricket Board said, “Khan was found guilty of violating the PCB’s anti-doping code and is hence banned for two years.”
In the past, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif have also received bans for failing their dope tests back in 2006. However, after an appeal these bans were lifted, something which was later criticized throughout the world.
Another statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board said, “An adverse analytical finding was reported by the National Dope Testing Laboratory in New Delhi, India, against the sample collected from Khan.”
