A barge with 400 migrants on board sank in Lampedusa

The growing influx of immigrants to the shores of southern Italy in recent days presage tragedy repeated. While the news is still very confusing, Italian media reported the wreck – a hundred miles south of Lampedusa and 50 northern Libya a barge with 400 people on board. Apparently speedboats Coast Guard have rescued alive about 200 immigrants, but also many corpses already recovered from the sea.

And Saturday, the Italian Military Navy said it had rescued within 24 hours about 1,600 migrants attempting to access by sea to the island of Sicily.
