Price of Potato to fall further
Wednesday, May 14th, 2014 2:10:30 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Lahore that the price of potato is expected to fall more after the approval of import from China and Bangladesh. Therefore, analysts claim that the prices will come down before the holy month of Ramadan.
A recent meeting which took place at the Provincial Cabinet, it was stated by the Price Control Committee that the federal government has now announced a duty-free import of 200,000 tonnes of potato from India.
Secretary industry told the meeting that since the import of potato of India is now going to increase the stock in the market, it is possible for them to now reduce its price in the market as well.
The meeting also expressed that currently strict measures are being taken in order to control the prices of Sugar, Ghee, and Atta (Flour).
All members present in the committee exclaimed that the prices of these products are going to fall before the month of Ramadan.
Secretary labour also proposed that a department should work on the quality of these commodities and their weights so that they can easily focus on this matter.
A member of the committee, Yasin, stated that they are all trying to focus on the quality of the commodities. He said that they are taking strict measures to ensure that people get the finest products in the market.
