GEO Once again in Trouble – Morning Show Anchor Apologizes

After the recent scandal regarding the ISI, Geo Television Network is once again in trouble over a morning show, ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’.
The show, hosted by Dr. Shaista Lodhi, has been alleged to blaspheme against the Prophet (PBUH)’s family. An episode from May 14th played “Ali (AS) Kay Sath Hai Zahra (AS) Ki Shadi”, a manqabat originally sang by Qawaal Amjad Sabri, in the background of a clip showing the marriage ceremony of one of Pakistan’s most controversial actresses Veena Malik.
Religious clerics and organizations took the act very seriously and alleged the channel of blasphemy. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority also served a notice to the channel for infringing a code of conduct forbidding any channel from broadcasting content that is derogatory and against any religion or sect.
Moreover, the Sunni Ittehad Council has also declared the channel ‘haraam’, forbidding people from viewing it. Meanwhile, Dr. Shahista Lodhi has tendered an apology for what she calls an ‘inadvertent mistake’, but Geo TV has reportedly started an enquiry against the production team behind the show.
It remains to be seen how Geo TV handles all the heat it’s getting from religious organizations and the public in general.

Extremely petty and small minded. Marriage even of veena malik, is a good thing and to celebrate with qawali for the love of , is not blasphemy. Hats off for stupidity. As always.

No good, very very stupid act by hole team and performers of that show,being a Muslim it’s a un bearable act.must b punished these curpleses.
It is totally insult of Holy Phrophet(PHUH) and his family.
