Friday, May 16th, 2014 7:12:06 by Shakira SubhaniMiami and San Antonio, the two teams that dirimieron the title last season, were the first to qualify for the conference finals after certifying their potential and eliminate 4-1 Brooklyn and Portland respectively.
Miami got into the Eastern Conference finals for the fourth consecutive year after back eight points against Brooklyn when there were less than five minutes to go (96-94). LeBron James 29 points, Wade 28 and a triple and two free throws by Ray Allen in the last 32 seconds sealed the match and the tie. Heat disputed Conference final against the winner of the series that settle Indiana and Washington.
Spurs despite injury Tony Parker, authoritatively resolved the fifth game against Portland (104-82), thanks to the magnificent contributions of its eaves, and Leonard Green with 22 points each. The Spurs will play the West final against the winner of the pulse that kept Oklahoma and Clippers.
Errors in the last stretch of the game doomed the Nets at American Airlines in Miami. Dominated by 83-91, but from that moment Teletovic, Pierce and Joe Johnson failed triples, Livingston and suspended two shots Pierce and LeBron put a cap to Joe Johnson.
The Heat were very accurate from the free throw line with 29 hits in 31 pitches, but LeBron missed one when there were nine seconds. The Nets enjoyed the final possession to try to decide a triple or at least force overtime with a basket of two. But they failed to even launch. LeBron sent off swatted a ball that was in possession Pierce, in an action that the referees had to review video. In the last five seconds, Joe Johnson, all scorers with 34 points, received the ball but, beset by Allen and LeBron, ended up losing just as the final buzzer sounded.
In the ATT Center in San Antonio, the Spurs overcame injury to Parker. The French guard could only play ten minutes that could not score. He suffered a thigh injury and could not return to the court. His replacement, the Australian Mills, it was supplied with a great success and had 18 points. And the eaves, especially Green was not performing at their level in these playoffs, and Leonard, took the offensive leadership of his team with 22 points each.
The Blazers fired without much fanfare. Lillard with 17 points and 10 assists, and Aldridge with 21 points and 10 rebounds, were once again their best players. Batum was not so successful this time as in the fourth game and the team bench Portland, deprived of Mo Williams hardly contributed. Miami and San Antonio showed their superiority and were relentless with their rivals. Both maintain their hopes of repeating the final between them last season.
