Laos Defense Minister Died in a Plane Crash

A military aircraft of the Government of Laos in which Defense Minister, Douangchae Phichit was traveling with other state representatives has crashed today in the province of Kuang Xiang, in the north of the country, as confirmed by an official source.
Authorities have not confirmed the number of dead, time or survivors of the crash of the aircraft. There were at least 14 people traveling in the plane, according to the Defense Ministry. Defense Minister of Laos and his wife, Minister Public Safety and the Mayor of Vientiane, capital of Laos, would be among those killed in the accident.
However, sources close to the Defense Ministry, who spoke on condition of anonymity, could not confirm reports in some of these media reports, although she said that at least three passengers survived the accident.”
The plane left this morning from Vientiane Kuang Xiang with state representative on board to attend a meeting, which has been postponed following the incident.
Last October, 49 people were killed, including crew and passengers of 11 nationalities, when a company plane Lao Airlines crashed into the south.
