Younis Khan Hints at World Cup Call-up
Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 10:55:36 by Ahmad MehdiThe ex captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Younis Khan, has not been selected by the PCB selectors for one-day matches since March 2013. During this 14-month period the ex-captain has missed 32 one-day matches, the Champions trophy and the Asia cup.
Khan said that in the next two years he wants to play good one-day cricket and wants to retire on his own term instead of being forced to retire.
Being part of the test match team, Khan still goes to training regularly and is one of the fittest players on the team.
Khan retired from Twenty20 cricket after leading Pakistan to win the Twenty20 World Cup.
The ex-captain has good statistics, scoring 7,014 runs in 253 ODIs with an average of 31.88. He has scored six centuries and forty-eight half centuries.
The PCB has formed a training camp in Lahore to determine the central contracts of the players.
Khan told that before planning a month long training camp, PCB took the senior players in confidence and told them to motivate the youngsters. He said that this kind of camp has been formed after 6-7 years and that these camps really help in determining the fitness of the team and the areas where improvement can be made.
