Pakistan and China Sign Agreement on $1.6 Billion Lahore Metro Train Project
Friday, May 23rd, 2014 8:09:55 by Shakira SubhaniPunjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Chairman of the Chinese National Development Reforms Commission signed an agreement this Thursday May 22, 2014 to start Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project. This will be first of its kind metro train project in Pakistan’s history. President Mamnoon Hussain and Chinese President Xi Jinping were also present at the ceremony.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Lahore metro train is a unique project and would be a milestone in Pakistan’s history.
The elevated Orange Line of Lahore Metro train will be constructed from Ali Town to Dera Gujjran. The length of this Orange Line will be 27 kilometer. The project will facilitate the daily commuters traveling through the city.
The project is expected to start by the end of this year. Chinese authorities will design, construct, monitor and invest in the metro train project.
There are plans for three more metro train tracks during the future expansion of the metro train project. Green line will connect Shahdara to Hamza Town, Purple line from Data Darbar to Allama Iqbal Airpor and Blue line will connect Chauburji to LPC.
