Imran Khan to Continue Protest Against Election Rigging
Monday, May 26th, 2014 4:17:59 by Maleeha TareenPakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan told his supporters in a rally that he would not stop the protest against rigging of the general elections unless the thumb impressions in four constituencies are carried out along with the introduction of the reforms in the country’s electoral system.
Khan warned Pakistan Muslim League (N), former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Mir Shakeel-ur-Rahman that if riffing is proved, his party will seek legal action against them under the Article 6 of the Constitution.
Addressing the protest rally in Faisalabad on Sunday, PTI chairman said, “The PTI wants introduction of a system based on justice for all but it is not possible without free and fair elections.”
Imran Khan claimed that government is wasting Rs1billion everyday and had received $50 billions in loans from foreign donors.
Imran Khan announced that people of Sialkot will witness the next episode of the continuing protest on June 7.
Mr. Khan claimed that he challenged Nawaz Sharif to hand over the power generation and distribution system of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reduce the theft and tariff but “he did not accept the challenge.”
Sheikh Rashid, Awami Muslim League chief, who is trying to bank on the popularity of Imran Khan called the PTI workers to prepare for a long march to siege Parliament. He claimed that there will be a “qurbani” before Eid-ul Azha.
Other PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Javed Hashmi also addressed the rally.
PTI workers from other parts of the country including women participated in the protest rally.
