Danish Cyclist Brian Holm Charged with abuse of minor

“I stand before you here and now because I will not play hide and will disappear by magic for a few months.” With these words the Danish cyclist Brian Holm began Tuesday his press conference. He made the charges against him public “for alleged abuse of a minor”  less than 12 years according to several Danish newspapers.

Sports Director of Belgian cycling team Omega Pharma Quick Step and councilor for the Liberal Party (Venstre) in the municipality of Frederiksberg in Copenhagen, Holm maintains his innocence but wants to make public the charges against him to avoid leaks. By do so he has nothing to lose because his family and closest friends already know the details of the situation. Touched and excited Holm stated to be “aware that going public can be a heavy cross for me in the future but I had to. Yesterday my daughter after school had to listen as some one at school told her that his father was a criminal. I’m not, I’m innocent, ” Holm told reporters. Sporting director of Omega Pharma avoided to add any details about the investigation that is still open.

Brian Holm competed professionally from 1986 to 1998. Among the highlights of his career, the victory in 1991 of the Paris-Brussels. In the shadows, the statements made in 2002 admitting to doping during the 90s.
