Farzana Parveen was stoned to death in front of the Lahore High Court during the broad day light on Tuesday May 27, 2014. Police has failed to arrest any of the alleged killers except her father.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reportedly taken serious notice of the brutal killing of 25 years old Farzana Parveen and directed chief minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, to submit report by evening.
Nawaz Sharif has directed the provincial authorities to bring the violent criminals to justice as soon as possible.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said that this dreadful crime is intolerable; especially the fact that she was brutally killed during the presence of police is unacceptable under any circumstances.
Farzana Parveen was the victim of ‘honour killing’. She was stoned to death by her relatives for marrying man of her liking. Farzana and her husband Muhammad Iqbal were waiting outside the Lahore High Court as her family had registered a case of kidnapping against her husband. She wanted to testify against the false police case to let the court know that she was not kidnapped and married with her own will.
Over two dozen killers attacked them with bricks and sticks. She received serious head injuries and died. Killers were able to escape and only her father was arrested by police.
Police had registered case against a number of alleged killers including Parveen’s two brothers and other relatives.
