Taliban Release a video showing exchange of U.S. soldier
Thursday, June 5th, 2014 6:28:10 by Khalil KhanTaliban has released a video Wednesday of release Sgt Bowe Bergdahl of the U.S., after five years of captivity in Afghanistan. The images show the soldier sitting in a van before being passed to a helicopter of the U.S. armed forces.
The release on Saturday Bergdahl, 28, in exchange for five Taliban prisoners in Guantanamo, has sparked controversy in the U.S., where more than 11,000 people have signed a petition to the White House to punish for “deserter” sergeant. The signatories accuse the soldier of “abandoning his post” with the intention of not supporting the war against terrorism and will blame “being directly responsible” for the death of several soldiers who died in the search operations.
The U.S. president, Barack Obama, did not rule Tuesday in Warsaw first leg of his European visit- the possibility that the military authorities investigate the future behavior of the soldier, but insisted that the priority was his recovery. As the head of the Joint Chiefs, General Martin Dempsey, was a little more explicit. In a picture hanging on the social network Facebook message, Bergdahl said, “as any American, is innocent until proven otherwise.”
Bergdahl is in a stable condition in the military medical center in Landstuhl base in Germany. His parents, Bob and Joni Bergdahl, have reported that have not yet contacted him to ” give it time ” to adjust to their new situation and said that his son will not grant interviews in near future.
