The political earthquake UKIP took a breather in the midterm elections of Newark, central England, where the Conservative Party retained the seat with no problems left by the resignation of one of its members. The Tory candidate Robert Jenrick scored 45% of the vote, well ahead of the UKIP candidate (26%) and Labour (18%).

As happened in European and local elections enn May, was punished the great Liberal Democrat Party, which stood at 2.6% despite the fact that in the 2010 elections in the same constituency had obtained 20%.

The UKIP stood very far from having any chance of getting his first deputy in Westminster but even so increased by more than 22 percentage points of votes, keeping their options protest party that can significantly distort the overall view of the 2015 special features of the British electoral system. With one seat per constituency candidate wins the most votes regardless of whether or not having an absolute majority. UKIP ‘s votes can end up giving winners as winners candidates that otherwise could have been seconds.
