UK denounced infiltration of Muslims in several schools
Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 4:30:31 by Shakira SubhaniThe presence of radical Islamic schools in areas with a high proportion of Muslim population has caused political tensions in the UK and even within the government of Prime Minister David Cameron. After investigating 21 schools in the Birmingham area supposedly influenced by Islamist elements, school inspection has concluded that five of them are improperly managed and the Ministry of Education will take steps to control its management.
The problem transpired last March, when the existence of an anonymous and undated letter which referred to “Operation Trojan Horse” to take control of various schools of Birmingham met by Islamic radicals. The letter suggested that parents of students rise against the management if their schools “their children is tainted with sexual education, teaching about gay children pray Christian prayers or mixed swimming lessons and sport “.
The letter argues that the group apparently hides behind “has caused a significant amount of disorder in Birmingham and as a result we have our own schools and are on track to get us off more heads of studios and take control of their schools. “
The case has ended up with all kinds of ramifications. It has led to a public squabble between the Minister of Education, Michael Gove, and the head of Interior, Theresa May, with both playing the card of hardness against the radicals although the Department of Education knew of the case since 2010.
The performance of Ofsted inspectors (Office for Standards in Education) has also been questioned, especially by those who believe they have acted under the political slogan to show the schools involved now with a hardness that had not shown in previous inspections. One of the schools whose management is now ” inappropriate” had been rated “outstanding” in January 2013. Two others had been rated “good”. The other two were schools that were converted into academies inspection when demanded improvements in their management. A sixth of the 21 inspected school has been rated inadequate was applying specific measures because in May 2013 had suspended the inspection.
The language of Ofsted reports and the words of the head of the agency, Sir Michaeel Wilshaw, leave no room for doubt when gauge the importance of the problem. They claim that in Birmingham “has curdled a culture of fear and intimidation,” talk ” with certain schools organized objective campaign.” Those who accuse Ofsted have changed mind very quickly, Wikshaw replies that it is schools that have changed and that there is ” a sudden and sharp decline in these schools,” in which ” managers are exerting more influence of appropriate or acceptable, ” manipulating the curriculum to reflect their personal views, to the detriment of the role of head teachers. The Trojan Horse operation alluded to control schools through their governing bodies.
Schools, however, deny that it has been tested for the presence of Muslims in their governing bodies and believe that inspections are due to political considerations. ” The idea of a Trojan horse plot has created the perfect storm for individuals and organizations with hidden agendas around education, immigration, faith, secularization and purely political party,” says one of the schools now stigmatized by inspectors.
