Fitness Tests to Affect Player Contracts
Friday, June 13th, 2014 2:59:14 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Lahore that a new set of rules have been discharged in the Pakistani Cricket Board. The rules claim that fitness tests are going to take place every four months and if the players are not fit, then it is going to affect their contracts.
In order to enhance the fitness level of all the players who are currently a part of the Pakistani cricket team, the board has come up with a solution where players will not have a choice.
If they want to earn top contracts in the team, they will have to work hard in the fitness department. According to analysts there are currently several players who are not fully fit to play in tournaments and they are still in the team. Therefore, fitness tests will assure that these players remain fit throughout the time they are playing for the Greens.
While talking about these rules, Wasim Akram said, “We don’t have a fitness culture in Pakistan and we have no cricket schools like in England, Australia and South Africa — so it was in my mind, even in my playing days, that these sorts of camps are always helpful.”
He further added by saying, “Fitness tests will be held every four months which will affect their central contracts, their match fees if they are not achieving their targets. We are giving them nutrition plans. If you look at the chart, we don’t want to see overweight. We don’t want to see underweight either. So they have to be taking care of their diet.”
