The attacks have occurred very near Mpeketoni, where last week killed 60 people in attacks claimed by the Somali terrorist group Al Shabab, linked to al Qaeda, police said.
“I have proof that an unknown band attacked the village of Taa in the WiTu Monday night and killed five people,” said Reuters Lamu County Sheriff Stephen Ikua.
Taa is in an area of small farmers of different ethnic groups, according to the head area, Kaviha Charo Karisa. The attacks occurred about 40 kilometers from Mpeketoni, very close to the resort island of Lamu town, according to local newspaper The Star.
The Lamu County Sheriff, Steven Ikua, has called a meeting to assess the security situation in the coastal region after the deaths of the last week.
Although the attacks were claimed by the Somali terrorist group Al Shabab, the president of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, denied such an extreme and attributed to internal political disputes, interested in inciting ethnic violence.
