Several Shias Killed by Extremists
Monday, June 30th, 2014 3:05:09 by Ahmad MehdiThe Human Rights Watch recently released a report where they claim that the Pakistani government needs to take serious action regarding the Shia killings that are taking place in the Balochistan region of the country. Several people die due to this act in Hazara.
The report included 62 pages and was given the name “We are the Walking Dead; Killings of Shia Hazaras in Balochistan, Pakistan”. The document highlighted the Sunni militant groups who have been attacking Shia groups in Hazara.
Since the year 2008, several hundreds of Hazara have lost their lives in target killings. This includes the likes of two bombings in the provincial capital, Quetta. These two bombings killed at least 180 people.
The Asian Director spoke regarding the matter and said, “Sunni extremists have targeted Hazara with guns and bombs while they participate in religious processions, pray in mosques, travel to work, or just go about daily life. There is no travel route, no shopping trip, no school run, no work commute that is safe for the Hazara. The government’s failure to put an end to these attacks is as shocking as it is unacceptable.”
The Pakistani government always condemns the attacks which take place in the Hazara region but no strict action has taken place regarding the matter.
