Ahmed Abu Jatala has pleaded “not guilty” on Saturday in federal court in the United States, which accuses him of having led the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, in eastern Libya, which killed 11 on September 2012 including ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.

The Obama administration has wasted no time and brought before a federal court in Washington on the same day that Jatala reached U.S. territory, after a journey of more than 10 days on board a warship. According to U.S. media, the Libyan citizen, of about 43, this Saturday was transferred by helicopter to the capital to appear before the judge.

The hearing lasted just ten minutes. Jatala, dressed in black with a long gray beard, pleaded “not guilty” of the charge of conspiring to provide material support and resources to terrorists.

For now that is the only charge against him officially weighed, but the Justice Department said the investigation continues and that could present “additional charges” as it progresses. The judge has set a new hearing for 2 to July 8.

In a statement after his appearance, the attorney general, Eric Holder, has promised that Jatala will face “the full weight of the justice system” in the United States.

“We will prove, beyond reasonable doubt, the role allegedly played in the attack that killed four brave Americans in Benghazi “, said Holder.

Jatala was captured less than two weeks ago in a secret operation by U.S. special forces and immediately transferred to a “safe place “, which ended up being the warship has now brought to the United States. During the voyage, the alleged ringleader of the attack was questioned in an attempt to find out what you know about past attempts or plans for future attacks. Officials told The New York Times, Jatala “cooperating” with his interrogators during this time.

The Obama administration had offered a reward of up to ten million dollars for information leading to the capture of those responsible for the deaths of the four Americans in Benghazi, but has not revealed whether this incentive helped to arrest the alleged ringleader of the attack has been a real headache for the Democratic executive.

Although capturing Jatala was considered a victory for Obama, accused among other not having been sufficiently swiftly to find those responsible, the reviews were not expected from a Republican opposition that has questioned his decision not to send it directly to Guantanamo military prison on Cuban territory that is another problem that the Democratic president has not solved yet.

After the hearing on Saturday Jatala was moved, amid tight security, to the Alexandria Detention Center.
