Altaf Hussain Speaks Against Protection of Pakistan Ordinance
Friday, July 4th, 2014 12:28:12 by Ahmad MehdiMuttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain, came out in the open to speak up against the new ordinance passed by the government. He claimed that the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance is against the privacy of several individuals and gives extra power to the security forces.
While talking about the situation, Altaf Hussain said, “I don’t support the law. But we had no other options but to swallow the bitter bill.”
Pakistan is currently in a state of war against the militants who reside in Waziristan. The country is now trying to protect the people and for that they have recently passed a new bill. According to sources the bill was actually quite harsh but now they have changed a few clauses so that it can be put to good use and people in power don’t use this bill in the wrong way.
The opposition for this bill has stated that there are certain things which have to be addressed to the people. For instance, the security forces can check any house without a warrant. However, they have to present the reason to search and give a proof after two days.
Another thing which was pointed out by the opposition was that people can now remain under the custody of the security forces for up to 60 days and not only 10 days.
