Sarkozy claims to be victim of grotesque and politicized process
Friday, July 4th, 2014 3:45:40 by Khalil KhanFormer French president Nicolas Sarkozy not only launched a counterattack yesterday after corruption charges, but suggested more clearly than ever his likely return to the political forefront since leaving the Elysee. In defense of his innocence, and the branding process that is “humiliating” and “grotesque”, the former president of the France questioned the impartiality of justice and vehemently attacked both his successor François Hollande and Prime Minister Manuel Valls.
In an exclusive interview with TF1 and Europe 1, and after almost two years of silence, Sarkozy accused of the French justice system to respond to political interests and for the sole purpose of defamation. “The situation was sufficiently grave for me to tell the French people about the political exploitation of a part of the justice system today,” he said adding that the end of August will decide on his future.
The arguments that defended Sarkozy are similar to those put forward by his supporters. The president accused of ” political manipulation” to a part of justice and is angered by the fact that his private telephone conversations was secretly intercepted by police.
On Tuesday July 1 was a dramatic day for Sarkozy. After declaring for 15 hours at the headquarters of the judicial police of economic and financial crimes, the former president was brought before the judges.
The charges against Sarkozy has caused a real earthquake in France, where his supporters insist that it is to block his path back into politics to lead the formation conservative UMP, sunk in a financial and leadership crisis due to corruption cases dotting it.
