Dr. Qadri refuses to cooperate with police investigation
Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 3:09:36 by Maleeha TareenPakistan Awami Tehreek leader, Dr. Tahirul Qadri has refused to cooperate with the police investiagtion of Model Town tragedy in response to request by the Punjab Inspector General of Police.
According to media reports, Mushtaq Sukhera IG Punjab Police requested Dr. Tahirul Qadri, chief Pakistan Awami Tehreek, in letter to cooperate in the police investigation of the Lahore Model Town incident on June 20 in which 14 people died and many injured.
Dr Tahirul Qadir had argued in the reply that police killed the Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers and same police is also investigating the case, thus, it is not possible to become part of the investigation. Dr. Qadri further said that 15 days have been passed and police has not registered our First Information Report (FIR) against the alleged culprits.
The violent clashes between police and Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers resulted in 14 deaths and 100 injured when police opened gun fir on the men and women who were throwing stones on police.
Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, has already removed the then Law Minister Rana Sanaullah and chief secretary Punjab Tauqeer Shah from their positions.
