PM announces Green Line rapid transit service for Karachi

Nawaz Sharif, visiting Karachi to discuss the law and order situation, assured full support to the Sindh provincial government for operation against criminals.
Chairing a high level meeting in Karachi, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced release of Rs15 billion for the city Rapid Transport Service similar to Lahore Metro Bus. Rapid transport service project called the Green Line will also require share from city district government Karachi. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the Green Line will be a revolutionary project for the citizens of Karachi. Prime Minister said that the work on Green Line project work would start soon.
Prime Minister House said in a statement that 3.5 lakh commuters will benefit from the Green Line project daily. The statement further said that like the projects of Metro bus projects in Lahore and Rawalpindi, the work on Karachi rapid transport service will be done on emergency basis.
Pakistan Prime Minister said that Karachi is the heart of the country’s economic life-line and no stone will be left unturned to restore peace in the city. Nawaz Sharif said that Rs 55 billion will be released immediately to National Highway Authority for the Karachi-Lahore Motorway project and the work on it will be starting in few months time.
Nawaz Sharif was accompanied by Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Khawaja Saad Rafiq, on a day visit to Karachi where he chaired a high level meeting at Governor House to discuss the law and order situation and ongoing operation against criminals.
