Pakistan to Play Football Series against India after 9 Years

It was recently reported from Islamabad that Pakistan will now be facing India in a football series after 9 years. The last time the two sides came face to face was back in June 2005 and it was won by Pakistan on the basis of goal average.

However, since that time India has managed to improve in this sport. They have opened up their own football league. Their football is thriving as they have even managed to sign a few foreign players.

A company tried to get these two countries together for football back in 2011 as they were set to play in England but the series got cancelled. Since then Pakistan’s achievement is to play in the Asian games while India’s achievement is to play against Australia. Pakistan, however, has also managed to reach the Street Children’s Football World Cup which took place in Brazil this year.

Pakistan and India recently signed a deal to play cricket games over the next ten years and the Pakistan Football Association did not wait to take advantage of the growing bond between the two countries and now they are going to face each other in a friendly series.  

Lodhi, while talking about the situation said, “Pakistan will also be playing a series against Bahrain from August 22 to 30 there, which shows that the PFF is doing its best for the game and to give exposure to the players.”
