Erdogun says Israeli actions barbaric than Hitler
Sunday, July 20th, 2014 10:17:54 by Shakira SubhaniTurkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has lambasted Israel for its invasion of Gaza strip that has killed over 400 Palestinians and called Israeli action as “disproportionate” and more barbaric than Hitler. Unites States quickly responded to the statement calling it “offensive”.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed a political gathering in the city of Ordu and said, “(Israelis) have no conscience, no honor, no pride. Those who condemn Hitler day and night have surpassed Hitler in barbarism.”
Erdogun had earlier said the Israeli actions in Gaza Strip have been “disproportionate” and accused United States of supporting Israeli acts. He further said that Israel was killing Palestinians “mercilessly”.
US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki called Erdogan’s comments “offensive and wrong” this Friday and said, “When there are concerns we have about comments made or actions taken, even when it is a Nato ally, we certainly don’t hesitate to make those concerns known.”
Turkish Prime Minster this Sunday asked, “How can we ignore this? How can a country like the United States turn a blind eye to this?” “As a member of the UN Security Council, it needs to act fairly,” he said.
Erdogun asked his citizens to not direct their anger on Israeli aggression in Gaza to the Turkish Jews. “I don’t approve of any (bad) attitude towards our Jewish citizens in Turkey, despite all this. Why? They are the citizens of this country,” said Turkish Prime Minister.
