Minhajul Quran issued final notice to provide evidence in Model Town tragedy
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2014 7:00:08 by Nadeem BajwaJudicial Tribunal comprising of of Justice Ali Baqar Najafi issued final notice to Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran to submit any available evidence in relation to Model Town tragedy on July 25. Police also has asked Dr. Tahirul Qadri to cooperate in the investigation of the June 17 Lahore incident in which 12 persons died as a result of police firing, however, he refused to become part of the investigation.
Justice Ali Baqar Najafi said that Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran has been asked a number of times to submit evidence about the Model Town incident, however, the requests have been overturned. Now it is the final notice for Minhajul Quran to submit evidence on July 25.
Police has taken into custody 10 police officials for the alleged involvement in the firing on the protesters on June 17 in Lahore Model Town outside the Minhajul Quran Secretariat to remove the security barriers. The police firing resulted in 12 causalities and over 80 injured including women.
It was revealed during the investigation that Superintendent of Police (SP) Salman Ali Khan ordered to open fire on the protesters. He is also in police custody now.
Dr. Tahirul Qadri says that he does not recognize judicial tribunal and will not become part of the investigation by police who killed innocent people outside his residence.
