Thursday, July 24th, 2014 12:53:12 by Ahmad MehdiIn a recent interview with the media, the former Pakistani bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, said that Shahid Afridi should be the next world cup for the team as he has the potential to lead this side to victory in the World Cup.
Shoaib Akhtar said, “Afridi is not a batsman but his credentials as bowler and aggression in his attitude is more than enough to help him qualify as a captain of the national team. I hope Waqar will bring changes that will be beneficial for Pakistan team in the future. He as a coach has to rise above everything and act as father figure in the dressing room. All these tactics are part of the skills of a coach and I hope a cricketer of Waqar’s stature would be able to help Pakistan team overcome these problem and win in the future.”
Shoaib Akhtar further stated that the new coach should understand how to take the best out of each and every individual in the team. He stated that the current Pakistani team has the potential to at least reach the final of the Cricket World Cup 2015. However, it is going to require a lot of effort since the competition is immense, especially with new teams entering the pool this time round.
