Shah Hussain wins first medal for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games
Sunday, July 27th, 2014 7:36:22 by Nadeem BajwaShah Hussain Shah won silver medal in 100-kg judo event and became the first medal winner for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland. Euan Burton of Scotland defeated Shah Hussain Shah to bag the gold medal.
Shah Hussain Shah, son of Pakistan boxer Hussain Shah, wrote history by winning the first silver medal for Pakistan in the Commonwealth games. Shah failed to win the gold medal against experienced Euan Burton who also had the advantage of home crowd.
Pakistan player had defeated New Zealand’s Tim Slyfield in the semifinal to secure his place for the final of the judo event.
Shah Hussain Shah’s father Hussain Shah was also the first Pakistan boxer who won the first boxing medal in Olympics.
Shah had also won bronze medal in the Asian Judo Championship previously.
