At least 35 injured in the collision of two trains in southern Germany
Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 5:28:23 by Irfan KhokharAt least 35 people have been injured as a result of the crash of a passenger train and a freight near the town of Mannheim in southern Germany, as reported by the rail operator Deutsche Bahn. Firefighters have raised to 45 injured, five of them serious.
The accident occurred late on Thursday and caused the derailment of five coaches of the passenger train, traveling aboard which 250 people, according to the newspaper Der Spiegel. The convoy covered the route between the Austrian city of Graz and the German city of Saarbrueken.
Experts are investigating the incident to analyze the event to determine, among other things, the state of the signaling and function of the affected trains.
