PTI MPA election declared null on rigging charges
Thursday, August 7th, 2014 7:28:24 by News Pakistan AdminThe election victory of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member Sindh Assembly Syed Hafeezuddin (PS93) has been declared null and void by an election tribunal in Karachi this Thursday August 7, 2014 after hearing the petition by Abdul Razzaque for alleged rigging in the 2013 elections.
Election tribunal judge Justice (Retd) Zafar Ahmed Sherwani declared the victory of PTI Syed Hafeezuddin null and void and decided that Sindh Assembly seat would go to the petitioner Abdul Razzaque who was also the closet contender in the 2013 polls.
Election Tribunal Karachi said in a notification, “The election of the returned candidate is declared as void u/s 68(d) of the Act and the Petitioner is declared as the returned candidate.”
“The Election Commission of Pakistan may be informed accordingly to issue such notification in the official gazette,” the notification added.
Syed Hafeezuddin has the right to challenge the decision of the election tribunal in the Pakistan Supreme Court.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is staging a massive rally in Islamabad on August 14 to protest the rigging in 2013 elections and is demanding of new elections.
