Case registered against Indian MP who said Kashmir was forcefully annexed
Tuesday, August 12th, 2014 8:02:08 by Maleeha TareenPolice has registered a case against Indian MP, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, who said Jammu and Kashmir and, Telangana were not part of India and were forcefully annexed under a number of sections of Indian Penal Code according to Deccan Chronicles. A local court had ordered the police to register case against MP after BJP worker had filed a complaint.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Lok Sabha member K Kavitha had allegedly said in an interview an English Daily in New Delhi that Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana were not part of India before independence and were forcefully annexed. BJP’s city legal cell convener Mr K. Karunasagar also claimed in the petition that Ms Kavitha had asked for redefining of the international boundaries while referring to the Kashmir issue.
Madannapet Police registered the First Information Report (FIR) under Indian Penal Code section 124 A for sedition, Section 505 for making statements conducive to public mischief and, 153 A for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and for acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, assertions prejudicial to national integration.
However, MP Kavitha clarified her statement about Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana in the TRS Lok Sabha on Monday August 11, 2014 and said, “Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India”.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha is also the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao.
