Pakistani asylum seekers had complained that Sri Lankan government was forcefully deporting the nationals of Pakistan who have filed claims for refugee protection without providing the opportunity to get their claim properly assessed.
Sri Lanakan government had claimed that Pakistani and Afghan nationals were flocking to Sri Lanaka to claim refugee status so that they can start their onward journey to final destination of Australia. Government had said that most of the Pakistani nationals were not asylum seekers but were economic migrants.
