Altaf Hussain calls Imran’s civil disobedience a joke
Monday, August 18th, 2014 6:00:28 by Khalil KhanMQM leader Altaf Hussain has said the “civil disobedience call’ by Imran Khan is a joke with the nation on August 17, 2014. “If this is what he had to do, he should not have wasted people’s time, energy and money. He should have announced it earlier,“ Hussain said.
Altaf Hussain expressed these views while talking to members of Rabita Committee, members of different wings, elected representatives and office bearers and workers in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
“It is not a child’s play to launch a civil disobedience. It is a matter of future system of government in the country. The country’s economy is in mess. For the last couple of days Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has been staging protest demonstrations against the wrong policies of the government. They brought people to Islamabad by offering them false promises and hallow slogans from different cities in Punjab. Participants of the dharna have been told that the darna will not end until they achieve their objectives. Business has suffered because of the march. Stocks went down. A huge sum of money is being spent on the security of the marches. Money will be used from the national exchequer not from the prime minister’s pocket. If Imran Khan had to do this then he would have done it earlier. Imran Khan has appealed that people should not pay their gas and electricity bills. Generally, people do not pay electricity bills. They get electricity through hooks. People do not pay their taxes. In that case how would Imran Khan’s civil disobedience movement affect the government?, “ Altaf Hussain said.
“Imran Khan would have taken a bold step instead of this joke with the nation if he had courage. I am not a supporter of the government of Nawaz Shareef. The Nawaz Government repressed MQM in the past. I don’t believe in pursuing vendetta against my enemies. I care about the well-being of Pakistanis. People are already in problem. I think Imran Khan has made a joke with the people, “ Altaf Hussain said.
I appeal to Prime Minister Nawaz Shareef and Imran in the name of peace in Pakistan they should hold a dialogue instead of launching civil disobedience to solve issues and try to convince each other to accept their demands.
“No one becomes a Tarzan, Tyson by Muhammad Clay by thinking. I have expressed by views on the civil disobedience for the security and betterment of the country and have tried to express the feelings of the people. I think in some situation one should not show expediency. It is a sin in such situation, “ Altaf Hussain said.
