Government and PTI committees to hold talks
Wednesday, August 20th, 2014 10:27:55 by Shakira SubhaniPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly agreed to initiate talks with government on its six point agenda on Wednesday. PTI and government have formed the committees to start the dialogue on Thursday.
Government committee includes Governor Punjab, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal and Abdul Qadir Baloch. PTI negotiation committee is comprised of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Jahngeer Tareen, Azam Sawati and Aleem Khan.
Imran Khan has put forward six demands to the government to end his sit-in in Islamabad. He has also said that sit-in is not the last option to remove Nawaz Sharif from power. Following are the six demands of PTI:
1) Nawaz Sharif step down as Prime Minister.
2) Hold mid term elections.
3) Reform the electoral system.
4) Form interim government through consensus among all political parties.
5) Resignations of all members of Election Commission of Pakistan.
6) Prosecution of all those involved in rigging of 2013 elections under Article 6 the constitution.
Imran Khan has made it clear that without resignation of Nawaz Sharif, talks are not possible.
